 Step by Step embalming process

1- Preparation:

When a body is given to an embalming specialist, to undertake the embalming process, the body is initially inspected to identify external injuries or signs of trauma. Once inspected, dirt, and bodily fluids are cleaned. Like dirt or bodily fluids are cleaned. The body is then positioned and cooled in a refrigerated unit to slow down decomposition. 

2- Arterial Injection:

The second step in this process is to give an arterial injection in the neck. Doing this is a crucial step in the embalming process. It is done by a specialist known as an embalming specialist. He inserts a small cannula in the carotid artery and a solution of embalming fluid is passed on through the arterial system.

The significance of this fluid is ample, as this fluid reaches the body organs, the process of decaying slows down. It contains formaldehyde which is a top chemical used to preserve dead bodies, which replaces the blood and disinfects tissues.

3- Blood Drainage:

The third step in the embalming process is to make another incision in the jugular vein in the neck. The major reason for this incision is to drain out the displaced blood and other fluid so that the embalming solution can complete the circulation within the body.

4- Cavity Treatment:

The next step includes making a small incision near the abdomen. A trocar, (a hollow instrument) is inserted in the abdominal cavity so that any residual fluid or gas can be extracted from the body. Once done, the concentrated embalming solution which has is inserted to disinfect and preserve the organs. This is a crucial stage of the embalming process, as after this the body's decaying process slows down and the preservation advances.

5- Consumerization:

The next step is to retain the skin in a genuine form to keep the deceased's appearance intact. Cosmetics are applied in a way that the natural look seems restored up to a level. The hair styling and dressing are done in a way that meets the religious and family statements of the deceased. 

6- Sanitization and Presentation:

The final step in the embalming process, is the entire body is cleaned and sanitized. The role of embalmers in the entire embalming process is significant as they are trained to preserve the body internally and externally in such a manner by setting the right facial features so that the people attached can consider the deceased in a peaceful state.

Post all the facial and presentation are set, the body is placed in the casket with thorough cushioning and required ventilation to make the embalming process a success. It generally takes around 2-4 hours, until the embalming process is finished and the embalmed body is handed over to the relatives. However, it may vary from case to case.
